BURKELY was founded in 1988 by the parent company Horsten Leather Fashion which exists since 1944. Back in 1944, Horsten Leather Fashion was set up by Mister A. Horsten in Waalwijk, The Netherlands. Years later when his son Cees Horsten turned sixteen years old and decided not to go school, his father told him he should join the company instead. Nowadays, Cees Horsten is the owner of BURKELY, assisted by his son and junior manager Preben Horsten. The brand makes beautiful leather products, including handbags, office bags, hipbags and wallets.
